Semiha Berksoy

Turkish soprano Semiha Berksoy has died in Istanbul at the age of 94. She was born in 1910 in Istanbul, Turkey, studied at the Berlin Music Academy and, starting in 1934, had enjoyed had a long career as an eccentric but brilliant singer. She was recently admitted to the Istanbul Memorial Hospital with kidney, heart and lung problems, where she died on Sunday 16 August 2004.
