Stockhausen's slip

Karlheinz Stockhausen, speaking at a press conference on 17 September 2001, made some regrettable comments about terrorism and art, suggesting that the recent attacks in the USA were 'the greatest work of art imaginable for the whole cosmos'. Four concerts of Stockhausen's music, which were to have formed the centre of the Hamburg Music Festival, have been cancelled.
