<<< << -- 6 -- Maria Nockin A CORNUCOPIA
The season finale will be Georges Bizet's romantic and melodic The Pearl Fishers (Les Pêcheurs de Perles). The husband and wife team of Russian soprano Ekaterina Siurina and American tenor Charles Castronovo will sing Leila and Nadir. Leila is supposed to be a virgin priestess and Nadir is the man with whom she almost loses her life. Nadir and his friend, Zurga, sung by Malcolm Mackenzie perform the famous duet: 'Au fond du temple saint'. This opera was a total sell-out in 2004. Since then, the colorful and distinctive production designed by Zandra Rhodes has garnered rave reviews in San Francisco and New York.
