On Saturday evening, 23 November 2007, Los Angeles Opera revived its non-traditional 2003 production of the Mozart masterpiece staged by Mariusz Trelinski. He strongly emphasized the most important feature of each character which resulted in a loss of verisimilitude, but that was the style of his direction and he made it work. The costumes by Arkadius were inventive and interesting to contemplate. Boris F Kudlicka's scenery was basically a neon striped black box, but it was very effective in throwing the sound of the voices out into the audience.

The Leporello, Kyle Ketelsen, mimed and danced the overture, and in doing so, showed a great deal of physical talent. He worked with a huge hourglass strapped to his back as he interpreted the choreography by Emil Wesolowski. Ketelson sang well, too, although his voice was not quite as arresting as the Don's.
