Ensemble 10/10 is the contemporary music arm of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Its Buxton Festival appearance (St John's Church, Buxton, UK, 11 July 2016) opened with a reminder of just what brilliant new talent the young Britten must have appeared to his contemporaries. His Sinfonietta, Op 1, is brimming with invention, skilfully put together. No wonder some more guarded souls were wary of him...
