This telling description by J S Bach's son Carl Philipp Emanuel is proof enough of Bach's predilection for this instrument, and C P E even goes on to say that his father felt better able to direct an orchestra from the violin than from the keyboard. In view of all this, it is therefore no surprise that Bach's output includes a substantial number of pieces for the violin, four of which are included on this recording...
