One of my favourite Orchestras, a great conductor and a monumental work ... I have three recordings of Bruckner's Ninth: Karajan, Georg Tintner, and now Mariss Jansons and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. They are all very special in their own way. Karajan's is heavier in sound and perhaps a bit more ponderous as a result...
