Italian lyric soprano Maria Borsi, born in Frosinone, south-east of Rome is especially known for interpreting operas by Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi.
She has performed at La Scala, at the 2004 reopening of La Fenice, Venice, at Opernhaus, Zürich, the Salzburg Festival and at Wigmore Hall. In 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008 Borsi toured internationally with Andrea Bocelli and appears with José Carreras, Renato Bruson and conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti and Carlo Rizzi. So why is she less well widely known than Callas, Tebaldi, Angela Gheorghiu, Anna Netrebko, Ileana Cotrubas, Renée Fleming or other noted opera divas?..
