The field of single-performer voice and violin works is a niche of exploration especially in the hands and voice of Hope Wechkin.
Wechkin specializes in frequently changing shapes and color with folk styles from Bosnia to Croatia to New York City's Lower East Side. The violin is more constrained by the voice than vice versa, relying on complex musical tones of distinctive quality, each having a frequency that is a multiple of the fundamental.
