Federico Ruiz was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1948. He's written operas, and film and concert music for solo instruments, symphony orchestras, chamber groups and choirs. His music has been influenced by composers from Chopin to Ginastera and styles from Venezuelan merengue to classical minimalism. Ruiz has won many awards, but is seldom recorded and virtually unknown outside of his native country...
