Brother of the more celebrated Giovanni who was the eldest, Antonio Maria Bononcini (1677-1726) was just as fine a composer as this quite sublime disc testifies. Both had many things in common, as the two studied in Bologna, were relocated to Rome, and thereafter made their mark in Berlin and Vienna. Indeed, Giovanni made further headway as he became Handel's colleague in London, whereas Antonio acquired the post of the court 'maestro di cappella' in Modena...
