Elisabeth Leonskaja celebrates Robert Schumann, appreciated by MARY ISAAC
The well-known virtuoso pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja celebrated the bicentenary of Robert Schumann (1810-1856) with the audience at London's Wigmore Hall on Wednesday 8 December 2010.
In the twelve short pieces which make up Papillons, Schumann's second opus, one could hear Leonskaja's pure individualistic style. The artist played with great sensitivity and intelligence, but the imaginative touch was missing here...
