the Denner Ensemble
Previous early music performers for Derby Chamber Music have been something of a disappointment, but not this time. The Denner Ensemble's concert [Multi-Faith Centre, Derby University, UK, 15 January 2010] was a delight from start to finish.
Much of the evening's relaxed and amiable atmosphere came from the group's spoken introductions, which included descriptions of their instruments and a reading from the great eighteenth-century flautist and composer Johann Quantz on the pitfalls of playing the oboe....
