Boris Pergamenschikow
Boris Pergemenschikow has died, aged 55, of cancer in Berlin. He was one of the most renowned cellists of our time. Born in Leningrad in 1948, Pergamenschikow had a brilliant career and was also one of the most sought-after cello teachers in Europe. Since 1998, he has been a professor at the Berlin Music Academy 'Hans Eisler'. From his hospital bed, he kept instructing his students, among which were the noted young cellists Claudio Bohorques and Sebastian Klinger. Pergamenschikow died on Friday 30 April 2004.
