Ingo Metzmacher
The Netherlands Opera, Amsterdam announced on 31 March 2003 the appointment of Ingo Metzmacher, currently Artistic Director and Music Director of the Hamburger Staatsoper and Philharmonic Orchestra, as Chief Conductor of the Company for three years from the 2005-6 season. Metzmacher, who remains in Hamburg until the end of the 2004-5 season, will conduct at least three productions in Amsterdam each season. He will make his début in Het Muziektheater in April 2005 with Korngold's Die tote Stadt, conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
