Alice McVeigh
A recently-published book All Risks Musical is an irreverent guide to the British music profession (pounds 4.99, Pocket Press, December 2002, cartoons by Noel Ford). The book's author, Alice McVeigh, a professional cellist and author of two novels, While the Music Lasts (1994), Ghost Music (1997) and the recently completed Remember me, describes a series of 'unwritten' rules to ensure success on the London orchestral scene. McVeigh has also written her first play, Beating Time, which is to be published in 2003 by New Theatre Productions.
