George Guest

The British organist, conductor, Anglican, honorary white druid and football enthusiast George Guest died in Cambridge, UK, on 20 November 2002, aged 78.

Born on 9 February 1924 at Bangor, North Wales, he sang at Bangor and Chester cathedrals and did military service during the second war before studying organ at St John's College Cambridge. He was then organist and choirmaster at St John's from 1951 until 1991, building the choir to an exemplary high standard, and rivalling that of Kings College! With St John's Choir he made about sixty recordings. He was also University Organist from 1974.
