Rumson discovery
M&V contributor, composer and pianist Gordon Rumson has discovered a manuscript copy of Franz Liszt's B minor Sonata with annotations by Arthur Friedheim (1859-1932), a close associate of Liszt during the composer's last years. Rumson discovered the manuscript in the Arthur Friedheim Library - the music library of the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University. It dates from the 1920s and consists of a published edition marked with detailed changes to articulation, dynamics, fingering and tempo markings.
