Joseph Cooper
British pianist, broadcaster and composer Joseph Cooper died on 4 August 2001, aged 88. Cooper studied at Clifton College, Bristol, and at Oxford, where he was an organ scholar at Keble and a friend of Britain's musical ex-prime minister Edward Heath. He studied with Egon Petri and built an international career as a soloist. He wrote music for film documentaries, working with Auden and Britten, and became well-known amongst British radio and TV audiences for the quiz show Face the Music.
