David Sheinfeld
American composer, conductor, teacher and violinist David Sheinfeld died 9 June 2001, aged 94. Sheinfeld, born to Ukrainian immigrants in 1906, began composing as a teenager and became inspired by astronomy and particle physics. He played violin in the San Francisco Symphony from 1945-1971. Kent Nagano championed his orchestral music and will première Sheinfeld's last work in September 2001.
