The French honour Fidele
The French state has named Italian composer Ivan Fedele as a Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters. Born in Lecce in 1953, Fedele studied composition with Azio Corghi and Franco Donatoni, and first came to international notice when he won the Gaudeamus Prize in Amsterdam in 1981 for Chiari and his first quartet. 'In all my compositions you will be able to find the story of a journey, oscillating constantly between the physical and mental worlds, between dynamic as well as contemplative attitude.' - Ivan Fedele
