Heartfelt Stuff
A concert by the Amici Ensemble, enjoyed by HOWARD SMITH
I hadn't booked formally. Yet here I was on the front row in a packed house. My eyes closed I imagined a concert hall in Montreal, Moscow, Munich or Milan.
At any of the above I'd be unlikely to hear string playing of a higher quality.

The fact is the venue was a one-time bottle store, currently a 100 seat (+ or -) amateur theatre; and here in Greytown (population 2000) for a one-off concert under the auspices of Greytown Music Group was Amici Ensemble -- four violins, two violas and two cellos, all but one members of the Wellington-based New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO).
