The Alhambra is one of the architectural wonders of the world, and the memorable images of Segovia framed by a forest of pillars and moorish arches are the perfect summation of this incomparable 20th century musical explorer.

Between the pieces Segovia's voice is heard, out of shot, recalling his childhood, betraying flashes of wry humour and illuminating the spirit at the heart of genius.
Political philosopher and celebrated 20th century liberal thinker Sir Isaiah Berlin, OM (1909-1997) said of Nupen's made for TV productions; 'these films are intimacy, exuberance and insights into musical experience that were previously the private preserve of the greatest musicians and their closest friends.' They represent 'just about the highest level which television is capable of reaching'.
