<<< << -- 3 -- Gordon Rumson INTENSE SERIOUSNESS
The performance of the Liszt Sonata is incredible, with brilliant and controlled technique and a sense of declamation that raises the work far out of the 'street corner preacher style' that we so often hear
[listen -- Liszt Sonata, 21:29-22:30].
Prefacing the Fantasia is a section from Beethoven's song cycle that provides motto material for Schumann. It is played with gentle strength and longing.
This sort of performance very evidently places Robert Silverman at the forefront of Canadian pianists -- and that is a significant compliment on the international stage.
