<< -- 5 -- Maria Nockin ACCOMPLISHED STAGECRAFT

Judith Christin was an amusing Berta. Her sound was warm and she left the impression that some day, long after Rosina had gone off to be a countess, she might enjoy being elevated from housekeeper to lady of the house. James Scott Sikon was an accomplished Fiorello, J Sherwood Montgomery acted his part masterfully and San Diego Opera Ensemble member, Robert Aaron Taylor, made a successful main stage début as the Sergeant.

Moving energetically around the stage, the male chorus sang their parts with gusto. Principal Guest Conductor Edoardo Müller brought the composer's intentions to life with elegant, translucent playing. It was an excellent performance and the audience rewarded this cast with a lengthy and well deserved ovation.
