There are pieces by Graham Fitkin -- Ostrich on the Plain (1985) for oboe and wood blocks; and Michael Oliva in rich romantic mode with Into the Light (1997) in which he alternates between oboe and cor anglais. Timothy Salter's Diptych (Abstractions IV) was also written for Edwin Roxburgh in 1992

and is at the end won over by its ingenious homage to Bach.
The most recent pieces are Xas-Orion, a joint effort between Paul Goodey and Michael Oliva, written for oboe, cor anglais and computer in 2001; and Fox Woman, a strange and captivating duet for oboe and the voice of Linda Hirst by Cecilia McDowall, with words by Christie Dickason (I choose my prey with care, it must be tender, must be strong and fresh ...)
