Paul Goodey has a long and distinguished track record as the interpreter of 20th century classics from Goosens and Vaughan Williams to Lutoslawski and Heinz Holliger. But both as soloist and member of the Sounds Positive ensemble since 1997, he has stimulated, enthused and championed innumerable composers.
This recent anthology of new pieces is as varied and intriguing as might be expected -- and for any that may believe the oboe to have limited (and therefore rather wearisome) possibilities, here it can be demonstrated to be otherwise.
