A perfect marriage of music and theology
PIPPA HARE was at the Tudeley Festival's performance of Bach's B minor Mass
In September 1988 St Augustine's Chapel at Tonbridge School was almost completely destroyed by fire; only after a great deal of deliberation was it rebuilt in 1995, on the lines of King's College, Cambridge.
This chapel made a superbly fitting venue for Bach's Mass in B minor, performed by the Tudeley Consort, the Aarhus Chorale -- a hand-picked group of semi-professional singers from Denmark -- and the East London Chorus, with the London Pro Arte Baroque, conducted by Murray Stewart.

This was the 181st event in the now world-renowned Tudeley Festival, a year-round series specialising in Early Music organised by its far-sighted and energetic Artistic Director, Stephen Coles, an estimable organist and keyboard player who has amassed a number of fine instruments at the Festival's disposal.
