Patrick Summers brings out the intensity and the lush qualities of this magnificently orchestrated score. He has a fabulous orchestra to command and they play with elegance and romantic fervor. Richard Bado's chorus sings accurately and with a sure knowledge of this work's Latin style.

This two-act, ninety nine minute complete opera is recorded on two discs with an act on each. The work is divided into seventeen scenes and each one is a separate track. The clear sound on Albany Records' TROY531/32 gives the listener the feeling of being in an opera house with fine acoustics.
