Sing for peace
With the grim background of atrocity, feuding and
outright warfare, this planet witnesses almost endless
tragedy and grief, whereas the human race is capable
of the opposite given a resolve to live in peace rather
than to be torn to pieces.
Listening to Schubert's 'Death and the Maiden' quartet
today, the capacity of Man for such beauty and yet also
horrific destruction is shockingly perverse. We all know
the facts and face the TV pictures of tragedies that litter
the planet.
I am not routinely encapsulating that which is known.
I join as a passionate member of a World chorus
unreservedly committed to singing of peace and love
for all mankind regardless of colour or race. May we
all sing for peace.
