<< -- 8 -- Roderic Dunnett VERGING ON LONDON STANDARDS

Scene Two, outside the monastery, was softened (marginally) by the addition
of a makeshift garden. The female chorus, well introduced, sang haltingly
initially, making for a slow start. But Tebaldo (the Belfast and Manchester-trained
Rebekah Coffey) had a cheerful voice and moved well : after an irritating,
overacting start (Tebaldo's 'boyish' pranks and gestures were anything but)
she settled down : her flop into an adjacent pram was a brief silent-movie
classic.
