<< -- 8 -- Keith Bramich Being truthful to the music

The future ...
Chenyin speaks in a matter-of-fact way about her recent win. 'The opportunity
was great -- I've been given more concerts, and it's easier to promote yourself
when people recognise your name. Winning a competition is certainly not
everything -- it's a small push. I hope I'll be able to use this help to
further my career. Nevertheless, I know I will always continue to study.'
In the short to medium term, this continuing study could take the form
of a doctorate, with her now proven method of learning providing an ideal
subject for her research. She has already put the system into practice in
her duties at The Guildhall, where she works with students on a regular
basis.
Regarding her own performing career, Chenyin is rather reticent. 'I'm
not ready to be totally exposed to the public. If I got the chance, I would
certainly take a rather reserved approach. Sometimes the numbers of engagements
can become a hassle. Everybody needs opportunities, but to use them in a
positive way is quite difficult. I truly believe that in the process of
study, the longer you keep yourself, the better you become. It's like the
time you leave a bottle of wine to mature.'
