Global Fascinations and Sophistications
Triumphal Music for Organ & Orchestra
Franz Hauk appears as organist in Guild's series of CDs devoted to French
and Belgian music for organ and orchestra (American Horatio Parker's Concerto
is still to come). Saint-Saëns, Guilmant, Gounod and Dubois, born between
1818-37 were each actively concerned with composing celebratory or patriotic
music, as well as experiencing successes as fine soloists in their lifetimes.
Triumphal Music is centred around the 'Ingolstadt Organ Days',
and the works are: Romance, Marche élégiaque,
Hymne à Sainte Cécile et Nuptial, Marche funèbre,
Sérénade, and finally Guilmant's massive 5-movement
Concerto, which will shake the rafters of your living-room played back at
full volume [listen - track 7, 0:00-1:00].
