With Frank Zielhorst indisposed for what would have been his Royal Concert Hall debut — Nottingham, UK, 16 November 2018 — as Sinfonia Viva's Principal Conductor, one of his predecessors, Nicholas Kok, stepped in at the last minute.
Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, though, was directed by leader Benedict Holland. The first movement's introduction was given broad, sonorous treatment, and in the body of the movement, the intricate details were neatly dovetailed...
