Russian pianist Roman Kosyakov is a graduate of the Central Music School, Moscow, and the Moscow Conservatory, currently studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He began this year's series of Derby Cathedral lunchtime recitals — Derby, UK, 11 May 2018 — with a double-bill of strongly contrasting sonatas.
In Haydn's Sonata in E minor (Landon No 53, Hoboken XVI:34) he delivered the first movement's almost sturm und drang edginess with both vigour and clarity, and the no-nonsense ending was neat...
