Bizet's Carmen and Verdi's La Traviata are the world's most performed operas. I am not aware of an adaptation of the tragic La Traviata for a children's audience. I was much surprised when I heard that Opera Domani, a twenty-two-year-old company based in Como and aimed at preparing new generations for operas and concerts, was intending to produce a special Carmen geared to children of different age groups.
