Herwig Zack is a Frankfurt-born violinist, former concertmaster of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra (1982-1995) and today professor of violin and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik, Würzburg.
As far as I can determine he has a two CD discography — the other Avie recording features the complete violin and piano works of neglected Russian/French composer Georgy L'Vovich Catoire (1861-1926); two sonatas and an elegy coupled with Ravel's Pièce en forme de habanera and Tzigane. Bernd Zack accompanies.
Precisely how central to the solo repertory Avie's Essentials are seems open to debate...
