the Macerata Opera Festival
On 15 July 2017 in the open air 'Sferisterio', the Macerata Opera Festival showed a new staging of Puccini's Turandot. The festival's theme is the 'Orient'. The other two Sferisterio operas are Puccini's Madama Butterfly and Verdi's Aida. The huge arena with a monumental wall and two tiers of large boxes, as well as a balcony, lends itself to colossal staging...
