on Bruckner's Ninth Symphony
Hi readers,
I know this sounds weird, but I can't get Bruckner's Ninth out of my head. It sneaks up behind me in the shower and bites me at the dinner table. It invades the tennis court and blows its breezes into the car. Of course, it is the most amazing work, as borne out by my recent programme note:
Symphony No 9 in D Minor
Bruckner was working on this work's never-finished finale on the day he died (indeed, his doctor lamented his own lack of musical knowledge, for Bruckner at one point was kind enough to play it for him)...
