This double CD set focuses on, maybe, the greatest composer of all time, and one of the greatest to precede him. J S Bach (1685-1750) was mainly interested in the sacred and organ genres, but his instrumental and orchestral pieces were among the most inventive works of the baroque period, and their daring language paved the way for future composers to elaborate and bring out the potential sound of the orchestra.
