Several things drew me to this disc — firstly the coupling. The third LP I ever owned was Leonard Pennario playing exactly these works (RCA Red Seal LSC 2873) with Seiji Ozawa and the LSO, recorded in 1966. Then there is the Schumann Piano Concerto itself. I have always loved this work, having played in an orchestra with Nancy Weir performing it in 1981...
