The Russian Cello and Orchestra genre has a rich and varied history, but strangely, it has never attained the popularity, say, of the symphonic or operatic repertoire, which remain to this day the mainstays of Russia's musical heritage. This timely disc focuses precisely on three important such works by three of Russia's most eminent composers: Glazunov, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev.
