Mark Bebbington has made a name for himself particularly as a champion of early-to-mid twentieth-century British Music. So it was good to find John Ireland tucked in between Beethoven and Chopin in his contribution to the Royal Concert Hall's current Sunday morning series (Nottingham, UK, 22 February 2015).
Beethoven to start with, then — an account of the 'Appassionata' Sonata that opened in a deceptive calm that gave plenty of room for the later pages to open out in forceful controlled vehemence...
