Having spent much of my life mourning the short span of Pergolesi's earthly existence, I was hugely relieved to find from the back cover of the booklet that in fact he survived for seventy-five years. But when the notional date of his birth proved to be more than a dozen years after the first publication of this music, I could only regret a careless misprint. While on roughly the same subject, I must point out that much of the English in the booklet ain't grammar. Yet what a joy these four cantatas are...
