Surprisingly Genial
Music for string quartet by William Zinn -

While William Zinn's intentions involve mourning or expressions of sorrow, I find this music surprisingly genial. The first two works are architectural and Germanic in character rather than lyrical/romantic. From an avowedly Judaic composer I would expect echoes of the synagogue found only in track 6.
At the same time the string writing is outstanding in its proficiency...
