With two likeable discs titled Cello Elegies and Romances, Penelope Lynex and Alexander Wells present twenty-two items for cello and piano. They include a number of miniatures which have fallen from favour since the mid twentieth century and before, eg Massenet's brief monothematic Elegie. To add to the mix these duettists air sadly neglected pieces; notably the Kenneth Leighton Elegy.

They include one famously much-recorded chamber masterpiece, Debussy's Sonate (1915) in graphic contrast with a suite by the largely forgotten Scots composer Isobel Dunlop (1901-1975)...
