Not for nothing is Nigel Ogden's BBC Radio 2 series called The organist entertains.
It's easy for those of us outside the organ world to forget that the line between what the instrument plays in church and what it gets up to (or used to) in cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues is not as rigid as we might think, as Ogden, with his experience of both camps, is well placed to demonstrate (Derby Cathedral, Derby, UK, 2 July 2014).
He is, if nothing else, a skilled compiler of medleys, and projects the character of what he plays with a sure touch...
