The young semi-professional Convivium singers and Portsmouth Cathedral choristers have entered an area of marine song in which the competition on either side of the Atlantic is extensive and fierce. Furthermore, the sound balance does the singers no favours. The voices are distanced to an unfortunate degree almost as though these Portsmouth choristers were concealed behind a high shoreline sand dune.
Their programme opens with Grayson Ives' They that go down to the sea in ships (Psalm 107)...
