Opera North's 'From Paris with Love',

From Paris with Love, Opera North's tribute to the French capital, was part opera gala, part cabaret (Theatre Royal, Nottingham, UK, 22 March 2014).
We knew where we were from the accordionist playing in the foyer when we arrived. Suspended over the stage was an appropriately bohemian assembly of bric-a-brac — paintings, sculptures, baskets of flowers, musical instruments. A Parisian acquaintance of mine was able to vouch for the authenticity of the atmosphere, at least...
