MSR Classics' new recording of Beethoven's complete works for cello and piano is bound to leave one feeling excited at times and indifferent at others. Cellist Colin Carr and pianist Thomas Sauer produce a beautifully deep and rich tone throughout, but too often their ensemble lacks direction.
